Emanuel Gnat

Emanuel ('Manny') Gnat passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife of a remarkable 73 years, his beloved Florence (Cutman) Gnat; their children, Michael Gnat and Karen Debra (Gnat) Haeseker; their grandchildren, Nicholas Gnat, Alexander James Haeseker, and Aidan Thomas Haeseker; their daughter-in-law, Linda (Mullin) Gnat-Mullin, and son-in-law, James David Haeseker; and nieces, nephews, and more in the US and Canada. He loved them all.

Born in Paris and coming to America as a young boy, Emanuel grew up in Spring Valley and left for New York City at 14. Starting out sweeping floors in a factory, he married Florence at 18, served in the 101st Airborne, got his CLU degree, worked for both Prudential and Madison Life. He joined Mathematica, a think tank in Princeton and was eventually CEO and President of TransNational Technologies in NYC.

In retirement he started writing, primarily fiction. Manny loved to travel with his wife and together they truly saw the world.

He will be sorely missed.
