Daniel Anthony Cancelleri 91, of Pleasantville, N.Y. and formerly of Valhalla, N.Y. passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on February 24, 2021. Born in the Bronx, New York on September 23rd, 1929 to the late Daniel and Angelina Cancelleri. Daniel grew up in Mount Vernon and graduated from Edison High School in 1948, where he excelled as an athlete. He proudly served in the US Army from 1948-1949. He worked as a salesman for J.A. Jackson Corporation of Mamaroneck, NY. He built his family in Valhalla, N.Y. and was an active member of the Mount Pleasant community. He was an umpire and referee, officiating countless football, basketball, and baseball games. He served on the Metropolitan Golf Course Superintendents Association, he was an avid golfer and spread his love of golf to his family. He volunteered in the Mount Pleasant Youth Basketball and Football Leagues. He was a member of the Mount Pleasant Seniors.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Anna of 52 years and his two children Daniel Cancelleri (Anita) of Prescott, Arizona and Diane Guarnieri (Louis) of Thornwood, N.Y. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren Jennifer and Michael Cancelleri of California and Anthony and Angelina Guarnieri of Thornwood and 4 great grandchildren, as well as, his nephew James Volpe. He is predeceased by his sister Theresa Volpe.
Visiting at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM where Religious Services will be held at 12 Noon. Private interment will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, N.Y. The family requests consideration of a donation to the Veteran’s Hospital of the Hudson Valley or plant a tree in his name.
